It was a slam dunk! The cold did not deter us from enjoying our night in Indianapolis to witness All Star NBA Players from the East and West Coasts battle it out at the Lucas Oil Stadium on February 17. First we witnessed the players showcasing their skills, then we watched them shoot their shots during a 3 Point Contest contest. However, the big climax of the night was the Slam Dunk competition. Watching the players defy gravity was magical!It was also fun to spot familiar names from not just the NBA, but other well known figures such as Chef Guy Fieri and Gail King. Of course, I think the scholars were truly impressed to see Stephen Curry and the one and only Shaquile O'Neal! Here is what some of our scholars had to share following the event: “This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to brave the cold of today with a handful of new friends to celebrate being a part of TRIO and the chances it has to offer. Full of cheering, laughing, and some unhealthy spending, today was one for the books!” Rima “I had a lot of fun. I got to meet new people and became really close with everyone today. It made me really happy to be able to go out and experience this type of thing with new friends and I hope I have the chance to do it again.” Angelina “It was very fun and remarkable.
