Upward Bound Beetlejuice

Upward Bound visited Chicago on Saturday, November 11, 2023, to see BEETLEJUICE the Musical. 20 students attended this event and enjoyed dinner after the performance. This event exposed our students to theatre (which many have never experienced), and the social and cultural benefits that it can have on young adults. This specific event was especially significant because the musical portrayed situations that are not typically talked about amongst young adults when it comes to understanding and dealing with the death of a loved one. Some feedback from the students: "The musical was really funny and entertaining. I loved the jokes, singing, and how talented the entire cast was. It was really interesting to see how a musical was in real life, and definitely lived up to my expectations." "I had so much fun at the theatre, it was so beautiful and the interior blew me away. It was easy to know where we were, and the seats also had such a nice view! Definitely an experience I've never had before, and something I really enjoyed." "...the musical was really really cool! It's a fun trip for kids our age to have, and something different because not all of us can casually afford tickets to a Broadway musical and a dinner at the Cheesecake Factory in downtown [Chicago]. This is one of the cool experiences Upward Bound provides us with."
